Rules governing access, accounts, content and sharing in Atlas.

Purpose and access
Atlas is a digital service that enables users to organise places, memories, stories and media, among other things, and share them with people they choose. Normal access to the service requires an account.
These Terms of Use are intended to govern use of the service. Commercial terms are set out in the subscription terms.
Age and accounts
Atlas is restricted to people aged 18 or over. Users must provide accurate information, protect their authentication credentials and report any suspicious access without delay to [email protected].
Accounts are personal. Invitations and sharing permissions must not be transferred or used to circumvent access rules.
Content and users’ rights
Users retain their rights to the content they add. They warrant that they hold the necessary rights and permissions to upload and share that content, including where it depicts or relates to other people.
Atlas receives only the technical rights needed to host, encrypt, transmit and display the content in accordance with the user’s choices and the operation of the service.
Sharing and contributions
Memories and media are private by default. When users share a space or invite someone close to them, they are responsible for checking the recipients and the permissions granted.
Deleting an account or a contribution removes the relevant items from the Atlas service according to the applicable lifecycle. It cannot erase a copy already downloaded or exported by an authorised recipient before deletion.
Prohibited uses
- using Atlas for unlawful or fraudulent purposes;
- infringing other people’s rights, privacy or security;
- attempting to circumvent access controls, quotas, limits or security mechanisms;
- introducing malicious software, automating abusive requests or disrupting the service;
- knowingly uploading manifestly unlawful content.
Security and encryption
Atlas is designed around client-side encryption mechanisms and access controls that limit access to protected content to authorised people. Users must retain their means of access and follow the recovery procedures provided.
Suspension and closure
Atlas may restrict or suspend an account where necessary for security, to comply with a legal obligation, to stop manifestly abusive use or following the expiry of a subscription in accordance with the commercial terms.
Except in an emergency or where an obligation requires otherwise, users are informed of the measure and any available options for recovering their data.
Changes to the service
Atlas may evolve, including to add features, fix issues, improve security or adapt compatibility. Appropriate notice will be given of substantial changes affecting contractual rights.
